Fridge and Freezer Organisation Tips

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

Organising your fridge may sound like something only a super organised person might bother to do. But think about it, the fridge is just like any other shelf or cabinet space- a deep open area filled with lots of different things. Plus many of these things have expiration dates so you’ll want to be super vigilant about how you store your items. We rounded up top fridge and freezer organisation tips:

  • Group items that you frequently use together in a bin- for example place spreads like jam, peanut butter and syrups in one bin with condiments such as mustard and mayonnaise in another.

From can organisers to deep or shallow trays and bins and egg storage, there are several specialty organisers designed for use in the refrigerator.

  • Add a lazy susan to ensure you can always see and find items you use on a regular basis.

  • Use extra large ziploc bags to sort meat, poultry and fish in separate bags. Reusable labels placed on the bags allow you and others who share cooking duties to identify the frozen slab in the bag.

  • Did you know an overstocked fridge can cause food to spoil faster if there isn’t enough cool air circulating to keep food cool? Even the fridge needs to be decluttered from time to time!
